Seed packet.

so! For the final assignment of my illustrating the edible class, we were randomly given a winter vegetable and told to design a seed packet. I got this lovely thing called a celery root. (which I have never eaten but I hear is with good with mashed potatoes) It is not the root of actual celery, but it is related, and you eat the bulbous part.
The top two are sketches from an in class workshop.
If you happen to be interested in food related illustrations, you can find all this as well as the rest of the class right here.

PIIIIE

The plate I did in my food class for chocolate peanut butter chess pie. And the sketch because I like it so much better.
Chess pie is a southern dish, hence the southern belle in the middle, the plant on the left is a peanut and the tree on the right is a cocoa tree.

of stolen bugs and other things.

An assignment for my concepts class about the theft of some animals from a local nature center. The thief made off with quite a variety, the most puzzling of which I found to be a Madagascar hissing cockroach. So I figured the guy had a thing for big bugs.

Inner Harbor of Baltimore

So this piece was about our experience of the inner harbor on the first day of class. There was this guy, and he had a friggen awesome mustache.
...a bit less extensive, maybe, but no less extravagant.

The reason it's up now, and not in September, is because I re-did the entire thing; the first one was absolutely dreadful and shall never, ever be seen anywhere. Except by those who have already seen it. ( I need to show it for my final portfolio in that class, so burning would not be the best idea...yet)

Comments and Crit are welcomed with love!

Faaaaaall break

Fall break, which was pretty much entirely unproductive in the homework areas, was still pretty nice. I did this on Saturday, when I didn't start my homework. And you know who they both are, you're as geeky as me :D

And in case you do know who they are and are wondering why the hell they're in the same picture at all, it's because of this.

halloweeen!

The poster I did for the MICA Halloween Party. It didn't get selected, but that's ok. The theme for the party was Jurassic Park and my raptor isn't very much like the movie ones... but feathers are cool! Also, totally legit.

Noodles 'n Cheese

First completed assignment of the new school year for my illustration edible class. Draw a recipe that either conjures memories, or is linked with your culture/family in a strong way. I choose mac'n cheese cause it was my favorite as a kid.... and I learned to make it when I was 7 or something.

Clay illustrations.

Subject: something from our childhood.
Sooooo, I like dragons. And when I was little I always used to think they were hanging out somewhere just outa sight. In this hypothetical situation, the dragon came outa hiding and burned a tree....Which totally didn't happen because I was too lazy to make the rest of the tree, nu-uh.
made with kiddie clay, the type that's really cheap and never dries out.

Cardboard Illustration

So for my collage class, we made 3D cardboard pieces and then took pictures to create illustrations.... these are the four pictures that I like best.
